1. Introduction

Welcome to Hashtag Tools ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Account details if you sign in, with a third-party account or with a sign-in link sent to your email: your name, email address and, if your sign-in provider shares it, your profile picture
Generator input: the topics you enter, your platform, tone, format and hashtag-count choices, any links you paste, and the text we read from those links (including your edits to it)
Messages to the AI assistant if you use the chat
Your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter
Your name, email address and message if you use the contact form
Purchase details: when you buy a paid product, our payment processor collects your billing details (see section 13). We receive your email address, the product, the amount, and the status of your purchase or subscription. We never see or store full payment card numbers

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

Device information (browser type, operating system)
Usage data (pages visited, time spent, features used)
IP address and general location information
If you sign in: the IP address and browser details of each sign-in session
A usage counter that enforces the free daily limits, tied to your account if you are signed in, or to your IP address if you are not
Cookies and similar technologies (see section 8)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To provide the Service: generate hashtags, read the links you paste, answer your chat messages, and, if you are signed in, keep your generation history and chats in your account
To send the emails you ask for: sign-in links, purchase deliveries and receipts, and, if you subscribe, our weekly newsletter and occasional emails about our products
To respond to your inquiries and support requests
To enforce the free daily limits and prevent abuse
To understand how the Service is used and improve it
To show ads (see section 8)
To comply with legal obligations

4. AI and Data Processing

Our Service uses a third-party AI provider to generate hashtag suggestions and to answer chat messages:

Your generator input (topic, platform, tone, format, and the text read from any link you paste) and your chat messages are sent to the AI provider for processing
The provider processes this data under its own privacy terms
The provider may use the data to improve its services, subject to its terms
What we keep ourselves is described in section 6: if you are signed in, your generations and chats are saved to your account; if you are not, we don't save them in our database

Links you paste. If you paste a link into the hashtag generator or the chat, we open that public page to read its text, for example a post's caption, a video's title and description, or an article. In the generator, we show you what we read before you generate, and you can edit or remove it. That text is then sent to the AI provider as part of your input. We don't keep a copy of the page. If you are signed in, your history saves the post's title (or your own words, if you added any) as the topic, together with the hashtags. We only read public pages, and we identify ourselves to the site as HashtagToolsBot.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

Service Providers: With third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, listed in section 13
Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, sale, or acquisition of all or part of our business

6. Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy:

Account: until you ask us to delete it. Sign-in sessions expire after 90 days without use
Generation history and chats (signed-in users): until you delete them in your account, or until your account is deleted
If you are not signed in: we don't save your generations or chats in our database. A shortened copy of your topic is included in our usage analytics and in our internal notifications (see section 13). If you sign in within an hour of generating, the sets you made in that browser are added to your generation history
Pages behind pasted links: not stored
Usage counters: reset every 24 hours. Expired counters, including those tied to an IP address, are deleted daily
Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. We keep a record that you unsubscribed so we don't email you again
Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires
Contact form messages: as long as needed to handle your request

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

8. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies:

Essential: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and your light/dark theme choice, stored in your browser. If you sign in from the generator to use a longer topic, the text you typed is also kept in your browser for up to an hour, so it's still there when you come back. Hashtag sets you generate without signing in are kept in your browser for up to an hour too, so they can be added to your history if you sign in
Analytics: our analytics provider uses cookies to measure visits and how features are used
Advertising: we show ads from a third-party advertising partner. The partner and its vendors may use cookies to serve ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized ads in your ad provider's ad settings, or at youronlinechoices.eu or optout.aboutads.info

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. The generator works without cookies, but you need the session cookie to stay signed in.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

The right to access your personal information
The right to correct inaccurate information
The right to request deletion of your information
The right to object to processing of your information
The right to data portability
The right to withdraw consent
The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

You can delete individual generations (on your account page) and chats (in the chat list) yourself, and unsubscribe from emails with one click. To delete your account or exercise any other right, please contact us through our contact form.

10. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

13. Third-Party Services

Our Service uses the following third-party services:

AI provider: processes your generator input and chat messages to produce hashtag suggestions and replies.
Email delivery: sends sign-in links, purchase emails and newsletters on our behalf, and relays contact form messages to us.
Hosting, database & file storage: host the Service and store account data (accounts and sessions, generation history, chats, newsletter subscriptions, usage counters, purchase and subscription records — never card data) and the files you buy.
Analytics: helps us understand usage. Usage events, including a shortened copy of the topics entered in the generator, are sent to it.
Advertising: serves the ads on our pages (see section 8).
Internal notifications: a team messaging service where we receive notices about sign-ups and sign-ins (name and email), newsletter sign-ups and unsubscribes (email), purchases and payment problems (email, product and amount), generations (topic, settings and any pasted link), and contact form messages, so we can run and support the Service.
Authentication: if you sign in with a third-party account, that provider verifies your identity.
Paddle.com Market Limited: Merchant of Record and payment processor for paid products. Paddle collects and processes billing information (name, email, billing address, VAT ID, payment method) on our behalf, and handles VAT/sales-tax compliance.
